Dear South Dakota EMS Association,
It is my honor to welcome you to the 50th Annual South Dakota EMS Conference, held October 31st – November 2nd in Sioux Falls. For half a century, this conference has brought together EMS providers, educators, leaders, and partners from across the state and region to learn, grow, and celebrate the work we do in service to our communities. Reaching the 50-year milestone is a testament not only to the strength of our profession, but also to the dedication and passion of each of you who continue to push EMS forward.
This year marks another milestone as we debut a new organizational structure for the conference. For the first time, the planning team includes both a static committee chairperson and a local co-chairperson to help balance continuity with local insight. I am honored to serve as the static chairperson and am excited to see how this model strengthens our ability to deliver a high-quality, consistent conference while embracing the unique character of each host community.
We have an exciting lineup of speakers, educational sessions, and networking opportunities planned. Whether you are here to sharpen your clinical skills, explore new innovations, or reconnect with colleagues and friends, this year’s conference promises to be both enriching and memorable. And since we kick off on Halloween, don’t be surprised if you see a little festive spirit sprinkled in alongside the learning and networking.
As we celebrate 50 years of EMS education, collaboration, and community, let’s also look ahead to the next 50—continuing to build resilience, foster leadership, and improve care for the people we serve.
Thank you for being part of this historic year. I look forward to seeing you in Sioux Falls!
With gratitude and excitement,
Matt Thompson
