Agricultural Trauma Management at Lesterville, SD Fire district training. Saturday Sept 30th 1-5 pm
This class is designed for ALS and BLS responders to recognize the hazards and special rescue indications in dealing with trauma patients in the agricultural environment. We will discuss modes of injury to include machinery entanglement, grain bin entrapment, manure pit hazards, livestock related injuries, hazardous material environments and many other hazards relating to the agricultural industry. There will be a 1 hour classroom session followed by a simulation training with high definition simulator to represent and entrapped extremity with severe hemorrhage.
The goals of this training are to recognize the hazards involved with agriculture and for rescuers to provide safe rescue response by using all available resources to effect a positive outcome for the patient and no harm done to the rescuer's
Treatment goals include: Hemorhhage control, airway and C-spine management, IV / IO access and fluid resuscitation, extrication and packaging, transport decision making BLS, ALS or ALS Critical Care Air assets.
